What it is like

A shrub or small tree. It grows 12 m tall. The crown is thin but rounded. The branches grow in rings from the trunk. They hang down. The leaves are large and opposite. They are 20 cm long by 6 cm wide. The flowers are small and white and have as cent. The fruit are green berries that turn red as they ripen. They are 5-10 mm lonf and have 2-4 seeds.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows in mountain forests between 1,700-3,000 m above sea level.
