What it is like
A shrub. It grows 2-3 m high. When parts are broken they have a bad smell. The roots are thick and fleshy. The young branches are stout. They are 3 sided. Young growth has a hairy covering. The leaves are oval or triangle shaped. They are 7-10 cm long by 5-11 cm wide. There are teeth towards the tip. The flowers are light purple or white. They are in compact heads at the ends of the branches.
It is partly medicinal.

It is a tropical plant. It is native to warm areas in China. In Yunnan.
