What it is like
An orchid. The plants are slender. They are 20-60 cm tall. The leaves grow up the stem. They carry 3-20 flowers. Each flower is 2 cm long.
There are about 140 Ophrys species.
Where it is found
It grows in dry grassland and scrubland from sea level to 1600 m altitude.
