What it is like

A small tree. It grows 3.5 m high and spreads 3.5 m wide. The leaves are 6 cm long. The leaves have 3 lobes. There are teeth along the edge. The flowers are pale pink. They open before or with the leaf buds. The fruit is red and has a downy skin.

There are about 200 Prunus species.


Where it is found

Temperate. It is more hardy than Prunus mume. It grows in north China between 600-2,500 m above sea level. It suits hardiness zones 5-9.
