What it is like

A climber. It grows 6 m long. It has a blackish brown coating. The leaves are sword shaped and 7-12 cm long by 2-4 cm wide. They are blackish underneath. Flowers occur singly in the axils of leaves. The fruit are 1.8 cm long by 1.5 cm wide. There are 7-9 seeds.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows in Hainan. It grows on forested slopes and in valleys beside water between 200-1,100 m above sea level in southern China.
