What it is like
A bulb herb. It grows 20-90 cm tall. The bulbs are oval and have pointed scales. The leaves are sword shaped and 10 cm long. The flowering shoot has 1-5 flowers. The flowers can be 4-6 cm long. They are bright yellow-orange with red dots.
There are about 100 Lilium species.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It does well on limestone soils. In Europe it grows between 500-1,900 m above sea level.
