What it is like
An erect shrub. It grows 1.2 m tall. It has a thick woody rootstock. The stems can be single or divided into 2 or 3. The branches are 3-4 angled. The young shoots are slender with a yellow coating that gets removed. The leaves are in pairs or rings of 3. The leaves are 2-8 cm long by 1-4 cm wide. They are narrowly oval and have short yellow hairs. The fruit are round and 8-12 mm across.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in the savannah. It grows between 900-1,900 m above sea level.
