What it is like

An evergreen tree. It grows 6-20 m high. The trunk is straight and 30-40 cm across. The leaves are 4-5 cm long by 2 cm wide. The flowers are in groups in the axils of leaves. The fruit are round and smooth. There is usually a single seed.


Where it is found

It is a subtropical plant. It grows in seasonal semi-deciduous forests. In Argentina it grows below 800 m above sea level.

How it is grown

Plants are grown from seeds. The seeds are collected from ripe fruit and the fruit are put into plastic bags to make them partly decompose to make removing the pulp more easy. Seedlings emerge in 30-50 days.
