What it is like
An evergreen tree. The leaves have short stalks. The leaves are 7-15 cm long by 1.5-4 cm wide. They are sword shaped and taper towards the tip. They have small round teeth and are leathery. The flowers are small and white. The fruit are fleshy with a thin outer layer and a hard layer around the seed. They are oval and orange.
There are 30 Eriobotrya species.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. In Nepal the plants grow between 1300-2000 m altitude. The grow in open places.
