What it is like
A banana with a single stem and it does not form clumps. The trunk is 6-10 m high. The sap is red. This banana puts its bunch straight up in the air. The leaves are 200-450 cm long by 50-60 cm wide. The flower stalk is 1 m long. The fruit are 4-6.5 cm long by 2.4-4 cm wide. The fruit are 3-5 angled. They are orange-red. The fruit contains many seeds. The seeds are 0.5-0.8 cm across. Plants die after fruiting.
There are about 30 Musa species.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It needs a warm humid location. It grows in Queensland in Australia. It grows between sea level and 160 m altitude.
