What it is like
A herb that keeps growing from year to year. It grows 10-40 cm tall. The leaves do not have leaf stalks. The leaves are sword shaped and 6-7 cm long by 1-2 cm wide. The base of the leaves can clasp the stem.
Leaves contain a bitter substance. There are about 90-100 Inula species.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It grows in waste land and sandy places between 300-1,700 m above sea level in north China.
