What it is like

An evergreen tree. It grows 20 m tall. The trunk is 50 cm across. The leaves are crowded at the ends of the twigs. The leaves are dull yellow brown underneath. The leaves are 6-15 cm long by 3-6 cm wide. The flowers contain both sexes. The fruit is oval and 3 cm long by 2 cm wide. The seed is 1.5 cm long.

There are about 360 Elaeocarpus species mostly in the tropics.


Where it is found

It is a subtropical plant. It grows in forests between 700-1,000 m above sea level. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
