What it is like
A grass. It is an annual plant 100 cm high. The leaves are 18-23 cm long by 8-18 cm wide.
There are about 20 Hordeum species.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It is cultivated at high altitudes in western China. In Argentina it grows above 4,000 m above sea level.
