What it is like
A herb. It keeps growing from year to year. It grows in water. It has erect leaves with long leaf stalks. It grows 80-120 cm tall. The leaves are oval and 15-26 cm long by 7-15 cm wide. The flowers have 5-12 rings of flowers in a panicle. The petals are white.
Leaves are used in medicine.
Where it is found
It is a subtropical plant. In Argentina it grows from sea level to 1,000 m above sea level. It grows in shallow swamps and near the edges of lakes and streams.
