What it is like

A tree. It grows about 30 m tall. The leaves are alternate and simple. The flowers are 15 mm across. They are white to pale yellow. They usually occur singly amongst the leaves. The fruit are 3.5 cm long and bright red. The seeds are partly covered by a red fleshy layer or aril.

There are about 27 Durio species. They occur from Myanmar to Malaysia and Indonesia. Also put in the family Durionaceae.


Where it is found

A tropical plant. It grows in forests up to 900 m altitude. It grows in Borneo.
