What it is like
A shrub or small tree. It grows 3-8 m tall. The leaves are oblong and 8-13 cm long by 3-5 cm wide. They are leathery. The flowers are in groups of 2 or 3 in the axils of leaves. The fruit are round and black when ripe. They can be 1.3 cm across. They are hairy.
Also put in the family Theaceae.
Where it is found
It is a subtropical plant. It grows in forests between 200-1,800 m above sea level.
