What it is like

A tree. It grows to 40 m high. The trunk is straight and 1.2 m across. Male and female flowers are on separate trees.

There are about 200 Drypetes species.


Where it is found

A tropical plant. It grows in deciduous and humid forest. It occurs at low elevations. In Nigeria it has been recorded at 1,500 m above sea level.
