What it is like

A bulb plant. The bulb is oval and 3.5-4 cm across. The scales are white. The stems are 60-120 cm high. The leaves occur in rings of 7-9 near the middle of the stem. The flowers are 2-12 together and they are nodding. They are red with purple red spots. The fruit is a round capsule 2 cm long by 1.5 cm wide.

There are about 100 Lilium species.


Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. They grow in forested slopes along streams between 200-1800 m altitude in N China.
