What it is like
An evergreen tree. It grows 10-15 m tall. The trunk is 30 cm across. The young branches have dense brown hairs. The leaves are oblong and 5-10 cm long by 2-3 cm wide. They are hairy underneath. Male and female flowers are seperate. The fruit is narrowly oval 10-12 mm long by 7-9 mm wide.
Where it is found
It is a subtropical plant. It the Indian Himalayas it grows between 1,600-2,400 m above sea level. It grows in forests between 2,000-2,600 m above sea level in southern China. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
