What it is like
An evergreen tree. It grows 15-27 m high. The trunk is erect and cylinder shaped and 30-50 cm across. The bark is grey and splits uniformly. The leaves are narrowly oval and 7-12 cm long by 2-4 cm wide. The flowers are in groups of 3-10 in the axils of leaves. The fruit are round, yellow and smooth. There is one seed.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in the Amazon in humid upland forest and along the Atlantic coast.

How it is grown
Plants are grown from seeds. Seeds are collected from ripe fruit that have been allowed to partly decompose in a plastic bag and then washed out with running water. Seeds need to be planted fresh. Seedlings emerge in 80-120 days.
