What it is like
An evergreen shrub or tree. It grows 2-11 m tall. The crown is round and dense. The trunk is 60 cm across. The bark is dark grey and cracked. The leaves are olive green and narrowly oval. They are 1-4 cm long by 1 cm wide. The male flowers are in groups of 2-6 and the female flowers occur singly. The fruit are green to yellow and turn red then black. They are oval and shiny. They are about 2 cm long and 1.2 cm wide. There is one seed.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows between 400-1,500 m above sea level.
