What it is like
A solitary palm. The stem is underground. The leaves are simple and diamond shaped. They reach 6 m tall. The leaf stalk is 2.5 m long. It has short thorns. The leaf blade is 3.5 m long by 1.8 m wide. The fruit is fleshy and a flattened round shape. They are 4-5 cm across. The seed is 2.5 cm across.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in moist to wet well drained slopes between 600-800 m above sea level.
