What it is like
A small deciduous tree. It grows 8 m tall and 3 m wide. The branches spread out wide. The leaves are small and narrow and often have 2 or 3 lobes. The flowers are creamy white. The fruit are round or pear shaped and red and yellow.
There are about 35 Malus species and very many cultivated varieties.

It is a temperate plant. It will grow in most soils. It needs an open sunny position. It is resistant to frost but sensitive to drought. It suits hardiness zones 5-10. Arboretum Tasmania. In Sichuan.
