What it is like
A shrub or small tree. It has many stems. It grows 1.5-6 m tall and spreads 1-3 m wide. The leaves are smooth and large and broad. The leaf blade is 9-23 cm long by 3.5-11.5 cm wide. They are dark green above and paler underneath. The tip is pointed. The flowers are white and like tubes. They are 1.5 cm long by 1 cm wide. They occur in clusters which are up to 15 cm across. They are at the ends of branches. The fruit are smooth round berries. They are 0.5-0.7 cm across. They are black when ripe. These contain 1-2 seeds.
There are about 400 Ixora species. They grow in tropical countries.
