What it is like

A shrub or small tree. It loses its leaves during the year. It grows 2-6 m tall. It has slender thorns 1-3 cm long. The leaves are narrowly oval and 3-5 cm long by 3-4 cm wide. The fruit is orange to red and oval. They are 6-8 mm across.


Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. In northern China it grows near river banks and on sandy slopes between 500-1,500 m above sea level.
