What it is like

A herb. It keeps growing from year to year. It grows 20 cm high. It has one flower. The leaves arise from the base and do not have stalks. They are sword shaped or strap shaped. They taper at both ends. There are velvety hairs on the leaves. The leaves are 8 cm long by 2.5 cm wide. The flowers are 6 cm across. They are white with a yellow centre.


Where it is found

It is a tropical and subtropical plant. It grows in the rainforest and also in dry grassland. It suits humid locations. It grows in the highveld in Swaziland.
