What it is like
A shrub. It loses its leaves during the year. It grows 1-2 m tall. The leaves are broadly oval and 2-5 cm long by 1-3 cm wide. They have a white covering underneath. The flowers are pink and the fruit are black.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. In northern China it grows in sparse forests and thickets between 700-2,600 m above sea level.
