Cornus oblonga

What it is like

A small tree. It grows about 10 m high. The leaves have short stalks. The leaves are 4-16 cm long by 1-5 cm wide. They are oblong and narrow to the tip. They have small hairs underneath. The flowers are white. They are in compound flat topped flower arrangements at the ends of branches. The fruit are oval and 4-6 mm long by 6-7 mm wide. They are black when ripe.

There are about 45 Cornus species.


Where it is found

It is a subtropical plant. They grow throughout Nepal from 1200-2500 m altitude. They occur in mixed forests. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
