What it is like

A shrub. It loses is leaves during the year. It grows 4 m tall. The branches are spreading and hairy. The leaves are 3-10 cm long by 1-5 cm wide. The flowers are in pairs in the axils of leaves. They have a scent. The fruit are red berries. They are oval and 5 mm across. The seeds are red-brown.

There are about 150 Lonicera species.


Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. It grows in scrub at the edges of forests between 200-3,000 m above sea level in China. Mt Lofty Botanical Gardens. In Sichuan and Yunnan.
