What it is like

An evergreen tree. It grows 20-25 m tall. The trunk is 50-70 cm across. The trunk is straight and without branches up to 15 m height. The ovary is densely hairy. The fruit is fleshy. It is 1.4 cm long by 0.6 cm wide.

There are about 360 Elaeocarpus species mostly in the tropics.


Where it is found

A tropical plant. It grows in dense tropical forests. It is on hill slopes up to 800 m altitude. It grows on well drained soil. It grows in evergreen forests between 1300-1500 m in Southern China. In Yunnan.
