What it is like
A shrub. It grows 3 m tall. The young branches have a grey coating. The leaves are oval and 6-12 cm long by 2-6 cm wide. They are grey underneath. The leaves have rounded teeth along the edge. There are 6-12 flowers in a group forming spikes. They are orange-red.
There are 3-6 Colquhounia species.
Where it is found
It is a subtropical plant. In grows in thickets at about 2,000 m above sea level in Yunnan.
