What it is like
A cabbage family herb. It is a low plant. It has many branches. It keeps growing from year to year. It grows up to 50 cm high. It is soft to the touch. The leaves are thick and leathery. They are divided or have deep teeth. The leaves are up to 4 cm long. The flowers are white. The fruit are many and held almost erect. They are crowded at the ends of stems. They are oval in outline and 4-5 mm long by 3-3.5 mm wide. They have a narrow wing on the upper half.
There are about 150 Lepidium species.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It grows in deep sandy soils. It is often on offshore island in southern Australia. Tasmania Herbarium.
