What it is like
A climbing fern. It can climb 7 m tall. It climbs on trees being attached to the trunks. The fronds are somewhat glossy and a dark green above and a dull or paler green underneath. The base of the leaf stalks has scales. The upper fronds are in rings of 4 and the lower ones in rings of 3 or 2. These fronds are 1 m long. The fertile fronds are near the tops and are shorter.
Also put in the families Aspleniaceae and Lomariopsidaceae.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. They start on the ground and climb up tree trunks. It is recorded in lowland regions along the north coast of Papua New Guinea and on the islands. It is recorded up to 1,400 m above sea level in the Southern Highlands.
