What it is like
A vigorous climbing vine. The leaves are divided into leaflets along the stalk. There are 3-5 leaflets and they are 10 cm long. They flowers can be white, mauve or blue. They occur singly at the tips of the stems.
There are about 250 Clematis species.
Where it is found
In China it grows in forests and on slopes between 200-1,000 m above sea level. It suits hardiness zones 6-9.

How it is used for food
CAUTION: Most Clematis contain an irritant poison.
