What it is like
A shrub. It grows 3 m tall. The leaves are oblong to sword shaped and 50-100 cm long by 11-17 cm wide. Plants are separately male and female. The fruit are 2.5-5.5 cm across.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. In Colombia it grows from near sea level to 2,400 m above sea level.
