What it is like
A robust small tree. It grows 8 m tall. The leaves are narrowly oval and 5-8 cm long by 2-3 cm wide. They are slightly hairy when young. There are teeth along the edge. The flower buds are dark pink. The flowers are 5 cm across. They can be single or double. The fruit are yellowish.
There are about 35 Malus species and very many cultivated varieties.
Where it is found
Temperate. It grows in mountain regions between 500-2,000 m above sea level. It suits hardiness zones 4-9. In Yunnan.
