What it is like
A shrub or small tree. It grows 10 m tall. The stems are ribbed below the leaf stalks. The leaves are alternate and broadly oval or egg shaped. They are hairy. There are teeth along the edge. The flowering shoots are drooping. The flowers are white and funnel shaped. The fruit are round or oblong and bluish-black. There are 1-2 seeds.
Where it is found
It is a tropical plant. It grows in the understorey of wet forests up to 2,000 m above sea level.
