What it is like
A shrub. It grows 1-3 m tall. The young branches are smooth and do not have spines. The leaves are oval and 2-7 cm long by 2-6 cm wide. The fruit are round and red. They are 6-8 mm across.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. In western China it grows between 500-1,200 m above sea level.
