What it is like
An erect herb. It grows 14-30 cm tall. It forms tubers. The tubers are 2 cm tall and 2-3 cm across. The stem is hairy when young. The leaves have short stalks and are narrow and 5-14 cm long by 1 cm wide. Flowers usually occur singly.

It is a tropical plant. It grows from sea level to 700 m above sea level in the Western Ghats.
