What it is like

An evergreen or partly deciduous shrub. The stems are hairy and twining. They can scramble 9 m high. The leaves are oval or sword shaped. They are 8 cm long and a deep glossy green. The flowers are in pairs and are yellow to red. They are in heads or spikes. The fruit are purplish-black.

There are about 150 Lonicera species.


Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. It is native to the mountains of central and western China. It suits hardiness zones 4-10.
