What it is like

A tree. It grows 7 m high. The crown is umbrella shaped. The leaves are narrowly oval or oval and 8-11 cm long by 4-7 cm wide. They have rounded teeth.

There are 160-180 Casearia species. They are mostly in South America. 75 occur in tropical America. They have also been put in the plant family Flacourtiaceae.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. In Ecuador it grows between 2,500-3,200 m altitude.
