What it is like
An evergreen tree. It grows 3-6 m high. The crown is round and dense. The trunk is short and 15-25 cm across. The leaves are compound with leaflets along the stalk and one at the end. There are 6-9 opposite leaflets without leaf stalks. The leaflets are 4-10 cm long by 3-4 cm wide. The flowers are in groups at the ends of the branches. The flowers are whitish-yellow. The fruit are oval and fleshy with a stone inside. There is thin sweetish pulp around the seed.

It is a tropical plant. It grows in dense humid forest near the Atlantic in Brazil.

How it is grown
Plants are grown from seeds. The seeds are collected from ripe fruit that have been stored in piles to allow them to decompose enabling the seeds to be washed out under running water. Seedlings emerge in 15-30 days.
