What it is like

A palm tree. The stems are in small clusters. They grow 3 m tall. They are 2-4 cm across. The leaves are almost all along the stem. The leaf stalks are 80-150 cm long with leafy shoots 1-2.5 m long. These have 4-9 leaflets on each side. There are also secondary leaflets. The fruit are round and brownish purple. They are 3.5 cm across.


Where it is found

It is a tropical plant. It grows in lowland rain forests often on limestone soils below 1,400 m above sea level. It grows in Yunnan in China.
