What it is like
A tree like cactus. It grows 2-6 m high. It has distinct trunks and many branches. The stems are cylinder shaped. The segments are 20-80 cm long by 15-20 cm across. There are 6 ribs. These are 7-8 cm high. There are 3-4 spines. The flowers come out at night. The fruit is 9 cm long and 4.5 cm wide. There are many black seeds. The flesh is dark red.
There are 34-40 Cereus species. It contains Vitamins.
Where it is found
A tropical plant. It grows between 1550-2000 m in Bolivia. It grows in drier areas.
