What it is like
A bulb plant. The bulb is oval to round and 2 cm across. The scales are white. The stem is 50-70 cm high. The leaves are scattered and there are 4-5 in a ring at the top of the stem. There are 1 or 2 flowers. They are red with purple red spots. The fruit is an oblong capsule 5 cm long by 3 cm wide.
There are about 100 Lilium species.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. It grows in open forest and moist meadows between 400-1500 m altitude in N China.
