What it is like
A thorny rattan with parallel veined leaves. The fruit hangs in clusters from fruiting branches. Fruit are 1 cm across and pale greenish white with a scaly surface.
There are 375-400 Calamus species. There are 175 species in tropical Asia.

A tropical plant. It occurs in lowland areas.
