What it is like
A bean herb. It grows 60 cm tall and forms tangled clusters. The flowers are pea like and pink. The leaves have narrow opposite leaflets. The fruit are narrow pods 4-5 cm long. They have a purple stripe along the top side.
There are about 150 Lathyrus species.

It is a temperate plant.
