What it is like

A medium sized tree. The leaves are alternate and compound with large, smooth, alternate leaflets. These are pointed at both ends. The flowers are small and occur in considerable numbers on simple or compound flower arrangements. The fruit are red and about 14 cm long. They are covered with numerous soft projections. The flesh is white abundant juicy and with good flavour. The flesh surrounds a single large seed.


Where it is found

A tropical plant. They occur in the Philippines from Luzon to Mindanao and are very common in Luzon in primary forests at low and medium altitudes.
