What it is like
A upright bush. It grows 1.8 m high and spreads 1.8 m wide. It loses its leaves during the year. The leaves have 3 lobes. They have coarse teeth. The yellow flowers hang down. The fruit are purple-black.
There are about 150 Ribes species.
Where it is found
It is a temperate plant. In Canada it grows on stream banks and in open prairies. In Pakistan it is cultivated between 1,500-2,000 m above sea level. It suits hardiness zones 2-9. Melbourne Botanical gardens.
