Where it is found

It is a temperate plant. It grows on the edges of forests and along streams between 100-2,300 m above sea level in China. In Sichuan and Yunnan.

CAUTION: Most Clematis contain an irritant poison. The young leaves are boiled and eaten as a vegetable. Roasted leaves are used as a substitute for tea.
